Wisdom teeth are the third set of molars in the rear of your mouth, and usually begin to grow during your late teens. Generally, there are four; two in the upper jaw and two in the lower jaw. It is also common to have less than four wisdom teeth or none at all in some people.

What are some of the problems with wisdoms?

Some wisdoms can be trapped under your bone, gums and adjacent teeth because there is simply not enough room. This can make it very hard to clean as food and bacteria become trapped and cause a lot of pain, swelling and infections.

In other cases, wisdoms can grow out slanted and start rubbing against your cheek. This will cause mouth ulcers and chewing problems too.

You may also need your wisdom teeth removed to assist in moving your teeth during braces (orthodontics).

What are some of the signs?

  • Pain in the wisdom tooth, mouth or jaw
  • Red and swollen gums around the wisdom tooth
  • Tender or bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Unpleasant taste in the mouth
  • Swelling of the face
  • Difficult to open mouth or swallow

Whatever the reason may be, we can assure you that having them out will be as quick, painless and comfortable as possible.

How will your wisdom tooth be removed at Midway Dental Clinic?

It is mandatory for an x-ray to be taken of the wisdom tooth first. Your wisdom tooth and the area around it will be made completely numb, and gently removed with your general dentist.

For those difficult wisdom teeth, we are fortunate to have oral surgeons visiting every month for your convenience so you will not need to be referred outside of the practice.

And, if that is still not enough, sedation can be provided to you if you wish. This will allow you to have those wisdom teeth removed while you are fast asleep.

How much will it cost?

Costs to remove your wisdoms start from $150, and prices will vary depending on the difficulty to remove the tooth. We will always take time to discuss any concerns you may have, as well as payment options according to your convenience.
